PASIGARBO sa USC 2015

The USC Supreme Student Council (SSC) once again kicked off the traditional welcome proceedings for new and returning students alike with PASIGARBO sa USC (Pride of USC) 2015 last June 19, at the basketball court of the Talamban Campus. The annual event, this year’s light and audio sponsored by iShowCebu, closed the week-long celebration of WOW, Dayun Na. PASIGARBO sa USC was an opportunity for the university to showcase representative performers from every school.
Student vocal talents opened the event with covers of popular songs as the crowd filed in near 6:00 p.m. The USC Choristers formally opened the ceremonies, leading with the invocation, the national anthem, and the school hymn, followed by the Banner Dances heralding the seven schools of the university. Each school also had students taking the stage in costumes tailored to represent their respective fields, accompanied by the MC’s narrative of their school’s description, history, and reputation.
Performers included the School of Arts and Sciences’ (SAS) Cebu Elite Beatboxers United, the School of Healthcare Professionals’ (SHCP) Nikki Shan, the School of Architecture and Design’s (SAFAD)Glee Club, the School of Law and Governance’s (SLG) Pia Jayme, the School of Business and Economics’ (SBE) The Three Angels, USC Dance Club, the popular Go Brothers and Eric, and the hip-hop group Undefined. Also performing were the University’s Theatre Guild and Ms. Intramurals 2014 Melody Hodgson.
The schools brought out their pop jazz dance troupes, including CAS Royale, the School of Education’s (SoEd) “Take Your Exit”, SAFAD’s Virtuoso, SBE’s Synergy, the School of Engineering’s (SoE) cheer dance group Echo. Closing the event was the SoE’s popular dance group Kinesyx,
Awards for the W.O.W Student Organization (SO) booth fair 2015 were given out by the SSC. Awarded Most Interactive Booths were General Curriculum Student Organization from the South Campus (SC), Safety First from the Downtown Campus (DC), and the USC Architecture Society of Talamban Campus (TC). Freshman’s Choice was won by SC’s Communication Arts Society of Educators, DC’s Safety First, and TC’s Carolinian Fashion Design Association (CFDA). Winning cash prizes for the overall top 3 SO booths were the Junior People Management Association of the Philippines in third place, Safety First in second, and CFDA in first.
PASIGARBO aims to promote Cebu festivities in a Carolinian context, and encourages people to “make memories” by sharing photos on the social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, using the hashtag #golocal.
