ISMIS Enrollment Angers Students Once Again
Enrollment began midnight on Monday, June 9.
Some students were able to go about with the procedure without experiencing any problem. However, a number of students were prohibited from enrolling, with ISMIS citing that these students must settle their payment first, despite already paying beforehand. Reportedly, there was no progress even in repeatedly refreshing the website.
Though social networking websites, students expressed their anger toward the incident and the service of the Information Resource Management – Academic Computing Services (IRM-ACS) Office, which is directly responsible for managing ISMIS.
Screen shots, rage memes and various posts about this current enrollment issue have been circulating the students’ Facebook News Feed and Twitter home page. Some students even decided not to sleep because they have been refreshing and hoping that the ISMIS website would properly function, but luck did not come their way.
Students advised everyone to log out their account and log in again so that possibly they would not encounter the same problem anymore, but to no avail. People encountering the enrollment problem thought it was best to approach the IRM-ACS office once it opened.
By morning, the students and parents concerned in this problem marched to the IRM-ACS Office to express their complaints regarding the issue.
Statements such as “Wa pa ko ka-enroll tungod sa downpayment incident”, “Maypa sila naka-enroll na sila sa block”, “Wa pa ko natulog gabii tungod ani”, and the like have been repeatedly said in the IRM-ACS Office. Parents of students also voiced out their concerns regarding the incident.
Workers in the IRM-ACS Office collected the ID numbers of the students encountering the problem.
As of 10 a.m., the problems reportedly seem to have been fixed for a number of students. However, many students still experience the same problem.
