With the aim of promoting literature through music and spoken word poetry, the first-ever Cebu Literary Festival Open Mic was held at East West Café, IT Park last July 9, 2016 from 7 to 10 p.m.
The free event was organized by Little Boy Productions and attended by literary enthusiasts, rising authors, and both amateur and experienced spoken word performers, intending to either witness and enjoy the performances or present their crafts themselves. A few scheduled performers also took stage, namely Clyde Inso Chan, Leonor Laluna and David Jones Cua, with Therese Villarante and Michael Tuico giving musical performances.
Various works and products of local artists were also made available, ranging from food and drinks to poetry books and handmade notebooks. Other merchandise such as pins and hand-crafted ornaments were also present.
The event, which is scheduled to run twice every month until the end of October, will lead towards the main event of the Cebu Literary Festival 2016 at the Activity Center of the Ayala Center Cebu on Nov. 26.
