Cebu celebrates 3rd Comicon at Ateneo de Cebu
Ateneo de Cebu – Numerous people gather to celebrate the Cebu Comicon 2013; A two- day event that was held in the Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu Gymnasium from August 16 to 17.
There were cosplayers who cosplayed characters from Batman such as the Joker, Scarface, Robin; Princess Murbucks of the PowerPuff Girls series; Miku and Teto of Vocaloid; Will, Hay Lin, and Irma of W.I.T.C.H, Darth Vader of Star Wars, Velma Dinkley of Scooby Doo, Hawkeye, Loki, and Ironman from Marvel; Hawkgirl of Justice League; Ezio Auditore de Firenze of Assassin’s Creed; “R” from Warm Bodies.
Cosplayers also competed in cosplay competitions both for group and individual categories. The event also played various episodes of famous anime. Art exhibitors also had a chance to have their artworks sold and showcased at their booths. Among the crowd were also Carolinians who came both as cosplayers, as cosplay aficionados, and art exhibitors.
The event was sponsored by iAcademy, Aegis People Support, Chillage, Alpa City Suites, Komikon, JonasDiego.com, WACOM, Thinking Tools, Callous Comics, M Citi Suites, Overactive Ink, and Retro Game House and was organized by Cebu Comics, an organization dedicated to promoting and cultivating the Comic Book scene, in partnership with Crazy Monkey Productions and Ateneo de Cebu’s AMTG (Anime, Manga, and The Gaming), who willingly provided the venue despite time constraints.
The Comicon promotes and cultivates local creative talents, local comic book creators, local animaton studios, and local game developers. It also aims to bring comic book enthusiasts and creators together.
