In celebration of the University Days, the University of San Carlos Community Extension Services Office (USC-CES) in collaboration with the Cebu Archdiocesan Prison Apostolate (CAPA) organized a Mission Operation in the new Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) to pay attention to the physical, mental, emotional and social needs of the inmates. This was participated by students, faculty and staff from the different colleges.

The USC Mission Operations offered series of activities for the inmates such as paralegal consultations and paralegal training by the students of School of Law and Governance (SoLG);psychosocial sessions and spiritual activities from chosen Engineering Students; and free medical, dental and optical services by the School of Health Care Professions (SHCP).

The whole day community extension program kicked off with the inmates showcasing their talents in dancing. One of the dance presentations they performed was Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Really Care about Us” which was choreographed by the personal choreographer of Michael Jackson.

As what John Carlo Tigue, an engineering student, shared his encounter with the inmates during their spiritual session, the outreach program was a one-of-a-kind experience for him that he will never forget in his entire life.

Furthermore, the Mission Operations was in cooperation with Cebu Doctors Foundation Inc., Juanito I. King Foundation Inc. and Cebu Lumad Lions Club and Human Rights Unlimited.
