The University of San Carlos NSTP-NSRC was granted the 17th Annual Gawad Kalasag Special Recognition Award last May 2, 2016 at Chardonnay-Astoria, Pasig City. The award was given for the university’s commitment to strengthen the National Service Training Program- National Service Reserve Corps and its dedication to the formation and creation of programs that are aligned with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) implementing guidelines and procedures.
Secretary Voltaire Gamin of the Department of National Defense and Undersecretary Alexander Pama from the Department of Interior and Local Government personally presented the award to Fr. Eugene Docoy, SVD and Ms. Emma Selma who attended the awarding ceremony in behalf of USC president Fr. Dionisio Miranda, SVD.
USC NSTP-NSRC involves all sectors of the university community to create a strong force that is prepared to respond to any forms of emergency at all times, through trainings on calamity preparedness and conducting fire and earthquake drills.
Initiated in 1998, The Gawad Kalasag Award is the current recognition scheme of the National Disaster Coordinating Council in its search for excellence on disaster risk management program.
